Top Priority. Be the creator of your life.
In life, it's easy to stay on the sidelines, to hesitate because of fear, doubt, or the judgment of others. Yet that is not who I am. Nor who I want to be. One of the most profound pieces of wisdom I've come across is Theodore Roosevelt's "Man in the Arena" speech. It hangs in my office as a daily reminder; it's a reminder that success isn't about avoiding failure—it's about having the courage to show up and try, even when you don't know the outcome.
This quote means so much to me because I've had moments where I felt marred by "dust and sweat and blood," where it would've been easier to give up or not even start. As many of you know, I've had my share of challenges and setbacks, from navigating the overwhelming demands of running a business to balancing personal life, and staying true to my purpose.
I remember when I was first starting out as an executive life coach, even with trusting and knowing in my personal experiential wisdom; in addition to twenty two years of running a business under my belt, I have felt the weight of doubt. Was I good enough? Would anyone listen? There were moments when I didn't have the answers, when it seemed like no matter how much I gave, it wasn't enough. It's happened in motherhood and a thirty year marriage as well. Every role of my life has presented trials. Yet each of those moments became a lesson in resilience. Rather than staying stuck in fear, I chose to step into the arena, to embrace my mistakes as part of the journey. And I learned something important: Resilience isn't about having everything figured out. It's about trusting that each step forward, no matter how small or imperfect, is a step toward growth.
One of the greatest gifts I've found through this process is that vulnerability is strength. When we're willing to be "marred by dust and sweat," we create space for transformation, both within ourselves and for those we're meant to serve.
Whether it's through being a CEO, managing teams, coaching, hosting retreats, or leading my gratitude mastery course, I've seen the power of resilience play out time and again. I work with high-impact individuals who often feel overwhelmed, burned out, and stretched thin. They've given so much of themselves to their careers, families, and responsibilities that they've lost touch with their own needs. My mission has been to help them rediscover their inner strength, their "warrior within," and to step into their lives with renewed purpose.
Resilience, as I've experienced it, is not about avoiding hardship but rather transforming it. It's about using each challenge as a stepping stone to becoming stronger, wiser, and more compassionate toward yourself. When you step into your arena—when you embrace your role as the creator of your life—something remarkable happens. You begin to see that you're not defined by your failures but by the strength and courage it takes to rise again.
