Where we find harmony.

I bought my first company at the age of 25, overnight I had an office full of employees looking at me to lead the way. I was excited and terrified at the same time. And it gets better…. my husband started his construction company AND we had our first child all in the same week of August 1997. Looking back now, that feels unbelievable to think we did that. Yet we did and all of that has developed our individual and collective mental toughness as business partners and husband and wife. Toughness that has served us as our careers and family have grown.

Mental toughness has certainly been a value or attribute that I believe we have excelled at. I know I have grit and I can say from experience that I am good in stressful or chaotic situations, and have referred to myself as “the eye of the storm” on many occasions.

I'm sure many of you can relate with me here, it's something that you get faced with often as our teams and our family are coming to you for clarification, vision, and direction.

25 years later, my mental toughness has shifted me in ways that I didn't expect. It now shows up in the form of SURRENDER far more than it did when I was younger.

Or… was it THE SURRENDER that led us to take the leap and faith and lean into the unknown again and again as we have moved through all of our peaks and valleys of life?

Surrendering to what you can’t control.

Surrendering to living in the present moment.

Surrendering to ego and perfectionism.

Surrendering to choosing battles wisely.

Surrendering to learning and growth, time and time again.

Mental toughness and surrender may seem like contradictory concepts. What I know now is they co exist and open the door to an energy that better serves us and is in true alignment with our purpose and goals.

It takes mental toughness to surrender.  Surrender  is where we find harmony in our determination and our adaptability.

I'm grateful for my experiences.

You'll come to understand that gratitude is the foundation of

a harmonious life by design.
