Do these 5 things two hours before bed and I betcha your life will never be the same.

Do these 5 things 2 hours before bed and I betcha your life will never be the same. Give it a try and let me know how you like it…

REFLECT

Answer these three questions:

  1. What happened today that I'm grateful for?

  2. Which actions moved my towards my goals?

  3. Are they any changes I can make?

I love these questions because they are both a balance between gratitude and self-improvement.

DISCONNECT

Imagine trying to park a car that's going 70mph

That's essentially what you're doing when you hammer a brain with work, stressful conversations and social media until the moment you go to bed.

Toss your phone.

Get off the computer.

Let the car slow down.

PLAN FOR TOMORROW

A productive day starts with the night before.

The simple act of writing down your 3 biggest “GET to do's list" can create massive momentum for the day ahead.

BREATHE

Breath is life!

You can take 20,000 breaths per day. Might as well make a few of them count.

Try the 5-2-8 technique:

Breathe in through your nose 5 seconds, hold for 2 seconds and slow exhale for 8.  I've found this is one of the best ways to kill stress before bed and regulate your nervous system.

READ

Reading is a great way I've found to slow down my mind before bed.

If non-fiction is too stimulating - try fiction. It can be a big adjustment at first yet I think it's one of the best habits you'll ever build.
